Cedar Square Shopping Centre Launches its First School Showcase with Education Incorporated Private School

Johannesburg, 18 October 2023 – Education Incorporated Private School – a boutique school in Fourways, Johannesburg, known for its commitment to academic excellence and individualised approach to learning – launched the first-ever school takeover showcase at Cedar Square Shopping Centre from the 7th to the 15th of October, 2023. The collaboration with Cedar Square offered the school and its students a unique opportunity to connect with the surrounding community and showcase its personalised approach to education.

Cedar Square Shopping Centre in the heart of Fourways invited schools in Fourways, Cedar, Broadacres and surrounding areas to participate in a one-of-a-kind initiative – a complete takeover of the shopping centre’s external display areas with support from tenants and Centre Management.

The takeover allows schools to introduce themselves to the local community and demonstrate their unique educational philosophies, approaches, facilities and students’ achievements. Education Incorporated was the first school to embrace this opportunity, and the response from the community was overwhelmingly positive.

Education Incorporated Private School boasts a 100% pass rate. The school is registered with the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) and caters to students from grades 4 to 12, with small class sizes capped at 12 students per class.

Gershom Aitchison, Co-Founder and Principal at Education Incorporated, explains: “As educators, we believe our role in a child’s education is to help develop them into the best possible version of themselves. Our approach incorporates an academic foundation with active physical experiences and the freedom to express creativity.

“We recognise that every child is different, and some children need an environment that acknowledges their unique talent, ability and aptitude more than traditional schools can. There is no one-size-fits-all education model. Our classes are limited to a maximum of 12 children each. This ensures far more personalised attention from our teachers.”

During the takeover at Cedar Square Shopping Centre, Education Incorporated invited parents and community members to engage with its Principal, Executive Head and specialised teachers, explore enrolment opportunities and see demonstrations of the school’s robotics programme, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) experiments, and to connect with partners including iStore Education and The Angus Lowe Experience.

Maria Varfis, Group Marketing Head at Accelerate Property Fund and Cedar Square, adds, “Cedar Square is closely connected to the community. And we know that a good education is a priority for local parents. However, choosing the right school can be a challenge. Our school showcase platform helps parents make informed decisions about where they choose to educate their children.”

“During the showcase, parents could speak openly to expert educators on-site and experience the school’s teaching style, approach and capabilities firsthand. In collaboration with our tenants, who seized the opportunity to make the showcase immersive and inclusive for every visitor, community members responded very positively to the energy and spontaneity throughout the centre. Thank you to Education Incorporated and our tenants for making our first showcase such a success.”

At the Cedar Square event, a wide range of activities and experiences were on offer from partners and sponsors, including:

iStore Education Coding games, demonstrations, robotics and activities for all ages.

Just Wing It Studios Dance Demonstrations, showcasing students’ artistic talents.

Science Experiments – Igniting curiosity with engaging experiments.

Oh My Cake! The Cake Smash: A raffle was held to see who got to smash a cake into a teacher’s face.

Norscot Koppies Nature Reserve – Generating awareness about preserving natural resources.

Currin't Events Exploring innovative marketing solutions.

The Angus Lowe Experience Showcasing experiential and formative life-orientation camps for young men.

Interaction with Principals, Staff, and Students – Providing firsthand insights into Education Incorporated's unique approach to education.

Jacqueline Aitchison, Co-Founder and Executive Head at Education Incorporated adds, “We thank Cedar Square for providing such a vibrant platform that allowed our students to have fun and connect with our community.

“The support from Cedar Square management and their tenants made us feel so welcome, and we were energised by the responses and interactions we had with parents and prospective students in the area.

“We’re not just a school but a thriving community that embraces the “EST OPTIMUM SUI” concept in our motto, which means, ‘Be your best self’. Cedar Square allowed us to showcase the best we offer and, by the same token, to experience the very best of the Fourways and surrounding communities.”
