Chris Bertish to Launch New Book Super Stoked! at The Pipe in Scottburgh

World-renowned ocean adventurer, big-wave surfer, author, inspirational speaker, and global changemaker, Chris Bertish is set to launch his highly anticipated new book, Super Stoked! at a special community event hosted by The Pipe Restaurant in Scottburgh this Sunday, 14 December, from 5pm. The launch, held in partnership with the Ocean Festival, will also provide the platform for the official announcement of the 2026 Ocean Festival dates.
Ten years after his bestselling debut, Stoked!, Bertish returns with Super Stoked! — a 50% longer, deeply personal continuation that captures everything he stands for: resilience, courage, kindness, purpose-driven living, and the unwavering belief that nothing is impossible.
“Super Stoked! is more than a book, it’s a way of life,” says Chris Bertish. “It’s about celebrating the heroes in your story, choosing kindness, and using what you’ve learned to uplift others. If every person who reads it does one good thing and passes that energy on, the ripple effect could be extraordinary.”
The book forms part of Bertish’s national Super Stoked! Tour - a road trip from Cape Town to Johannesburg to KwaZulu-Natal - featuring community upliftment events highlighting South Africa’s unsung heroes, including young people who have faced adversity and turned it into purpose.
“These stories are just as important as mine. in fact, many of them are even more powerful,” adds Bertish. “My greatest achievements aren’t the world records or titles, but more importantly, using my story for good, to uplift and inspire others to chase their dreams and do good in the world.”
True to his philosophy, every copy of Super Stoked! includes:
- A Pay It Forward & Pass It On page for readers to sign before passing the book to someone who may need it.
- The Dream Weavers Code.
- A Goal Manifesto Certificate, inviting readers to commit to their dreams and to acts of kindness.
Attendees at the Scottburgh launch will also be invited to join the national #StayStoked Challenge, sharing their Shaka Pledge and book journey for a chance to win a surf or SUP experience with Chris himself.
“This book is meant to go on its own adventure,” says Bertish. “It’s about sparking positive change - in yourself, in your community, and in the world. If every person who reads it does one good thing and passes that energy on, the ripple effect could be extraordinary.”
Extraordinary Venue for Extraordinary Book Launch
The event is made extra special by its host venue, newly opened The Pipe restaurant, which is run by local legends Catherine Le Pront – whose family is synonymous with surfing championships – and Rachelle Walker of Flava’s Bakery. This family-friendly spot provides the perfect coastal setting for an evening of storytelling and inspiration.
With its surfer energy, chilled deck overlooking the ocean, excellent seafood and burger menu, and its own skate park to keep the stoke high, The Pipe is a beloved community hub. For the launch, they’ll be serving a burger-and-beer/cool drink special for just R100.
This informative event includes a film screening, Q&A session, and book signing, offering guests the chance to engage directly with one of South Africa’s most inspirational ocean explorers. Entry is by donation, and all are welcome.
Ocean Festival Dates Announced
This is also the perfect setting for the official launch of the 2026 Ocean Festival! Held annually in Scottburgh to celebrate World Ocean Day, the Ocean Festival has grown into one of South Africa’s most dynamic ocean-focused events. Previous editions featured a powerful programme of clean-ups, ocean science talks, live music, film screenings, surfski challenges, adaptive surf therapy sessions, wellness activities, and the new Ocean Warriors National Series.
“We love events that bring the community together in meaningful ways, and having Chris Bertish here is truly impactful,” says Russel Symcox of Ocean Festival. “Pairing this with the Ocean Festival announcement aligns with the overarching ethos of celebrating the environment, our people, and our shared responsibility to protect the ocean.”
