Lions Mardi Gras 2024 Set to Bring South Coast to Life
Written by: Olivia Jones Communications Save to Instapaper
It’s that time of year when holidaymakers flock to our sandy shores to experience the best of the Mid-South Coast. This year, the exciting Mardi Gras is set to bring Scott Street to life on 22 December. Organised by the Lions Club of Scottburgh, this annual event is one of the oldest and most cherished celebrations in Umdoni.
A Legacy of Community and Fun
First held in 1993, the Scottburgh Mardi Gras has united communities in the spirit of entertainment and family fun. Like many other service projects, this event helps the Lions raise funds for a range of causes, including free eye screenings, diabetic screenings, childhood cancer support, hunger programmes, and environmental projects.
Dennis Botha, Lions President, commented on the impact of the event: “Mardi Gras is a team effort that revitalises Scottburgh and brings our community together. It’s more than just a celebration; it’s about making a difference.”
Exciting Entertainment and Attractions
Preparations are already underway, and the Mardi Gras promises a day full of entertainment for all ages. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- Jumping Castles and Soapbox Derby: Fun activities for thrill-seekers of all ages.
- Pony Rides & Children's Entertainment: Perfect for the little ones to enjoy.
- Visits from Father Christmas, Clowns, and Live DJs: Keeping the festive, carnival spirit alive.
- Diverse Stalls: Offering everything from food, clothing, and fresh fruits to toys, health products, and more.
With so many attractions, the 2024 Lions Mardi Gras promises to be a fantastic event filled with fun activities for the whole family. Don’t miss out on the festive celebrations!
