Gateway Theatre of Shopping, KwaZulu-Natal’s leading shopping and entertainment hub, is set to dazzle visitors this festive season. From enchanting LEGO® experiences to live entertainment, extended trading hours, and opportunities to give back, Gateway is creating a holiday destination like no other.
LEGO® Gift the Superpower of Play Activation
A highlight of this festive season is the LEGO® Gift the Superpower of Play activation, running from 6 December 2024 to 6 January 2025 (excluding 25 December and 1 January). This immersive experience features thirteen interactive zones catering to LEGO® fans of all ages, including:
- Santa’s LEGO® Workshop with a winter scene and an introductory video.
- A treasure hunt for Santa’s surprises.
- Activities like building paths for lost elves, creating vehicles for the Christmas Express, and designing festive ornaments for a LEGO® Christmas tree.
- Special zones for younger children (LEGO® DUPLO® area) and adults (Botanical Zone).
Participants can win exclusive LEGO® sets and merchandise, adding excitement to this festive journey. Tickets are priced at R25 per person (45-minute session) and will be available via Webtickets from 5 December or at the venue from 6 December. Card payments only, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Give the Gift of a Dream Come True
Gateway’s collaboration with Reach for a Dream provides an opportunity to give back this holiday season. From 18 November to 24 December, Reach for a Dream will manage Gateway’s gifting concierge service, wrapping gifts in exchange for donations. Proceeds will help fulfill the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses.
Continuing this spirit of giving, Gateway will host the Disney Chari-Tree in the food court. This beautifully decorated tree features plush Disney characters, and shoppers can participate in this charitable initiative to make a difference in children’s lives.
Live Entertainment and Endless Shopping
Visitors can enjoy live music performances by local musicians and DJs at Palm Court from 1 pm to 4 pm throughout the festive season, offering a lively and relaxing atmosphere.
Adding to Gateway’s wide range of over 380 local and international stores, the newly opened Jo Malone London now offers luxury fragrance options, perfect for holiday gifting.
To accommodate the festive rush, extended trading hours from 11 December 2024 to 5 January 2025 will give shoppers more time to explore the mall, enjoy holiday activities, and find the perfect gifts.
Meet Santa and Capture Festive Memories
Santa will be visiting Gateway from 14 to 24 December in the Steve Madden Court, available for photographs between 10 am and 4 pm daily. Visitors can capture the magic of the season with Santa and the mall’s breathtaking festive décor, including:
- A giant teddy bear.
- An enormous cone-shaped Christmas tree.
- Twinkling lights and captivating displays, offering perfect photo opportunities.
Feel the Festive Spirit
From creative activities and charitable opportunities to vibrant entertainment and extended shopping hours, Gateway Theatre of Shopping promises a holiday season filled with joy, creativity, and lasting memories.
