Quick-Draw curtain-sider system cuts opening and closing times by 50%

Leading South African truck body and trailer builder, Serco, says its ‘Quick-Draw’ curtain-sider system, designed to improve efficiency, security, and reduce wind drag for improved fuel efficiency, is gaining traction with transport operators.
The innovative fast-opening curtain mechanism allows drivers to open and close vehicle sides in up to half the time compared to conventional buckle systems. This makes it ideal for time-sensitive deliveries, high-turnover distribution hubs and demanding logistics schedules.
Built on a durable aluminium extrusion with rollers at both the top and bottom of the curtain, the system combines strength with ease of use, reducing operator fatigue while boosting productivity.
Key advantages of the new system include:
- Improved Efficiency - Faster loading and offloading reduces downtime at bays and enables more deliveries per shift.
- Enhanced Security - Simple yet robust locking systems on either side give operators peace of mind.
- Lower Costs - Reduced wear-and-tear and better aerodynamics helps improve fuel efficiency.
- Improved finish for Branding - With no buckles along the base, curtains stay taut and smooth, creating a neat, professional look for vehicle livery.
- Versatile Application - Suitable for a wide range of goods including palletised freight, beverages, and general cargo across both short-haul truck bodies and long-haul trailers and interlinks.
Commenting on the development, Serco CEO Clinton Holcroft, said: “The fast-opening curtain system is a practical and cost-effective way for transporters to optimise their fleets. It enhances operational speed while offering excellent branding potential - a real win for our customers.”
