What’s on at Sibaya Casino this November?

Multi-award-winning comedian Vafa Naraghi is bringing his inaugural national stand-up comedy tour, Becoming South African, back to the city where it all began: Durban. The same weekend, the Flash Entertainers will present a night of music and dance in aid of the KZN Blind & Deaf Society.

Mid-month, Showtime Promotions presents an evening of musical nostalgia with the ‘80s, ‘90s and golden oldies of Bollywood. There’s more glitz and glamour with KSDI 2025: A Bollywood Song and Dance Production, and November wraps with the Jessica Krish School of Performing Arts’ 29th Annual Dance & Drama Graduation.

Becoming South African Friday, 7 November 2025

It was in Durban where Vafa Naraghi was first given stage time, launching what has become one of South Africa’s most exciting comedy careers. Today, he is a two-time Comics Choice Award winner and one of the country’s most distinctive comedic voices.

Known for his sharp wit, character-driven storytelling, and socially conscious humour, Naraghi brings a rare ability to connect across cultures, communities, and generations. Speaking six languages – including Setswana, isiXhosa, Afrikaans, and Farsi – and with over 570 000 followers across social platforms, his viral skits capture the nuances of everyday South African life and have built him a devoted nationwide audience.

Becoming South African is his most personal and powerful work to date – a one-man journey through identity, culture, and belonging in a country still defining itself. Drawing from his experience growing up in Mahikeng to Iranian parents at the tail end of apartheid, Naraghi weaves hilarious, heartfelt, and sometimes provocative stories about language, race, masculinity, and national pride — all delivered with his trademark authenticity.

“This isn’t just a comedy show – it’s a love letter to South Africa,” says Naraghi. As part of an 11-city tour, Durban audiences will experience Becoming South African in the city that first gave rise to one of the country’s most distinctive comedic voices.
