21st birthday celebrations marked with acts of kindness – and big winners
When it’s your birthday, normally you’re the one getting the gifts. But as Sibaya reached its milestone coming of age – 21 – it’s the one handing out presents.
Employees came together for the Sibaya Nutritional Food Sponsorship Drive, dedicating an entire day across three packing sessions. They successfully hit their target, packing all 2 100 community care packs for donation to four local communities.
The total investment was just over R850 000, and the handover took place on Monday, 15 December 2025. The community beneficiaries were areas surrounding the Sibaya Casino:
Phoenix, Blackburn, Verulam, and Waterloo, identified based on proximity and community need.
Each community care pack included essential food and household items, providing families with both staple food and festive treats.
Virath Gobrie, Sibaya’s General Manager commented “Seeing the impact of this distribution firsthand reminds us why community upliftment is so important. The sponsorship is more than just food — it represents care, connection, and our responsibility to the people who live around us. This initiative forms part of our broader social investment strategy and reinforces our commitment to supporting sustainable, resilient communities.”
At the property itself, more than R4 million in cash, cars and prizes was given away during December. The celebrations kicked off on 1 December, when 21 winners each received R10 000 in cash during the Birthday Draw, and on 5 December, one lucky winner became an instant millionaire in a thrilling cash draw.
