Get ready for the buzz - and we don’t just mean the caffeine

Durban, South Africa – Creative Coffee Week July 30, 2025 | Umhlanga, Durban

Get ready for the buzz – and we don’t just mean the caffeine.

Creative Coffee Week, now in its seventh year, takes place in three cities in 2025, kicking off in Durban 30&31 July, the traditional home of this event. The Durban leg will be headlined by world-class international coffee professionals, experience award winning coffees from Colombia to Kenya to Costa Rica to Thailand, to our own home grown coffees.

Each event will have a different focus and the focus of this first one is around production and all that goes in to growing coffee. Day 1 is hosted by FNB, partners of this event since its inception, where we dive deep into farming and flavour!

For lovers of coffee, this event is a chance to level up your understanding of coffee - where it comes from, the flavour profiles and language used to describe it, the processing methods and what they mean in your cup. You will get the chance to interact with six globally respected coffee professionals as well as South Africa’s coffee champions and influencers all in one day. You will come away from Creative Coffee Week inspired and informed!

If you have ever dreamed of owning a coffee shop or getting in to the world of coffee, this is a MUST. If you are a barista with dreams of a further career in coffee, this is not to be missed.

Taste some of the best coffees on the planet – winners from Cup of Excellence, an international program that rewards farmers at origin, while hearing about it from Head Judge, Stephen Vick. Hear from award winning Kenyan farmer, David Maguta, who works with coffee champions around the world and taste his exceptional coffees. Get to know Colombia through their incredible marketing strategy and their tasty coffee!

Meet Mikael Jasin, the reigning 2024/2025 World Barista Champion and Georgius ‘Odi’ Teja, the recently crowned World Coffee in Good Spirits Champion 2025.

We are also hosting events open to the public, a Latte Art Sundowner Throwdown in Umhlanga and a coffee party at Humble Coffee, alongside a Café Colombia pop up and public cuppings.

There is also a Mini Origin Tour which any coffee loving human can hop on and see the burgeoning coffee farming community on the KZN South Coast. Leaving from Humble on 31st July.

This is a rare opportunity for the coffee loving public to engage directly with global coffee icons, witness world-class coffee techniques up close, and capture stories that span innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and the global culture of coffee – all unfolding in a local setting.

Brewed with intention. Covered by the curious. See you at Creative Coffee Week.
