Gold&I Jewellery Featured at the Pause Floral Workshops in Paarl
Flowers and jewellery have shared a wedding day for as long as there have been brides. The bouquet goes down the aisle, the ring goes on the finger, and both end up in the same photographs. In September 2026, two South African makers put them side by side on purpose, in the Winelands.
Floral designer Amanda Theron invited Stephani Cillié of Gold&I to bring her custom jewellery to the Pause floral workshops in Paarl. Bride models wore Gold&I pieces while florists designed bouquets, installations and styled shoots around them. Here is the story of Pause, the florists who run it, and the day the designer jewellery joined the shoot.
What Is Pause? The Floral Workshops in Paarl
Pause is a floral workshop for florists, held in Paarl in the Western Cape and running since 2020. The organisers describe it as a curated experience for florists who want to slow down, go deeper and rediscover their creative spark. Each workshop runs for three days and takes a maximum of 18 students.
Pause is presented by two Paarl florists, Anli Wahl of Anli Wahl Floral Design and Amanda Theron of Kadou Floral Artistry. They met at a flower business workshop in Stellenbosch nine years ago, and the two have since built Pause around their shared view that arrangements start with one breath of intention before the first flower goes in. They have welcomed over 200 florists across 11 workshops.
Three Days of Flowers, Friendship and Intention
Day one covers the principles and elements of design, table flowers and styling, and a phone photography session. Day two moves to bouquet theory, vessel work, tablescapes, freelancing etiquette and client relationships. Day three covers pricing and running a floristry business, installation theory and mechanics, and a group installation build.
The final day ends with a full styled editorial shoot with a photographer, featuring the work of every student. Students leave with professional photographs of their work for their portfolios. That shoot is where Gold&I comes in.
The Creative Heart Behind Kadou
Amanda Theron is a floral designer and stylist, and the founder of Kadou. Her studio in Paarl was established in 2012, and her website lists more than 12 years in the industry and more than 300 weddings designed. Her work has appeared in Top Billing, Bridal Guide, The Pretty Blog, Once Wed, Confetti Daydreams and My Wedding Day.
The name Kadou is the Afrikaans rendering of the French word cadeau, which means gift. Her design approach is loose, romantic and never repeated, with each arrangement built from the couple’s story. She has designed for some of the Winelands’ best known weddings, and her tablescapes and installations feature in editorial shoots across the Boland.
The Jeweller Behind Gold&I
Gold&I is a South African jewellery design and manufacturing company founded by Stephani Cillié. Stephani holds a Visual Arts degree in Creative Jewellery Design and Metal Techniques from the University of Stellenbosch, which she obtained in 2011. From 2011 until 2026 she worked behind the bench herself, custom making and designing every Gold&I piece herself.
Stephani specialises in custom-made fine jewellery in precious metals, set with semi-precious to precious stones. Her collection covers engagement rings, wedding rings and bespoke pieces, from classic solitaires to modern statement designs. Each piece is tailored to the client’s style and preferences.
Stephani makes pieces one at a time, which suits an editorial shoot where no two looks repeat. Amanda asked Stephani to bring her unique pieces to the Pause workshop, and the bride model wore them for the Day 3 editorial.
How Jewellery and Flowers Work Together in a Wedding Editorial
A styled shoot is built from many small decisions. The bouquet, the gown, the table, the backdrop and the jewellery all appear in the same frame, so each choice affects the others. Florists at Pause design with that full picture in mind, and the workshop teaches them to plan a whole wedding world from ceremony to reception.
Adding jewellery to the shoot gives florists a chance to see their work on a bride, from the hands that hold the bouquet to the neckline that frames it. It also gives the photographer a complete bridal look to capture, which the students receive as portfolio images.
Why Bridal Jewellery Belongs in Floral Workshops
Florists work with brides, photographers, stylists and jewellers on real wedding days. A workshop that includes a jeweller reflects that. Students meet the maker, see the pieces in person and watch how metal and stones sit next to petals and foliage in the final images.
The September 2026 Pause Workshop
The workshop that featured Gold&I ran from 15 to 17 September 2026 at Laborie Wine Estate in Paarl. It was Pause 12 and the last Pause workshop of 2026.
Couples planning a Winelands wedding can reach out to Kadou for flowers and to Gold&I for engagement rings, wedding bands and bespoke jewellery.
Florists who want a seat at the next Pause workshop can keep an eye on pausefloral.com, where the 2027 dates will be listed soon.
Flowers and jewellery will share a wedding day again, and now you know who to call for each.
