Brand Ambassador Rezah Sampson finds a new love for makeup

Johannesburg, May 2022 – Rezah Sampson, one of the 2021 Kryolan SA #KryolanColourAddict Brand Ambassadors has been shattering stereotypes and breaking boundaries his whole life. Winning over judges and the public with his exceptional makeup skills in 2021 was just the beginning of what will surely be a successful career for this trendsetting and courageous artist. Rezah discusses his journey so far.

Where did your love for make-up begin?            

“My makeup journey started at the beginning of lockdown about two years ago. I have always been an artist and finding new ways to express myself was the only way to keep me mentally and creatively stimulated during this time. So, I picked up my best friend's makeup brushes and palettes and started painting. The rest is history!”

What is your signature make-up look/style?      

I'd have to say that I'm more on the creative side of the spectrum when it comes to my style of makeup. I find myself most comfortable using illusion and just painting like Van Gogh all over my face, as opposed to everyday glam.”

How has being a Kryolan ambassador impacted your career?    

“Being supported by an international brand like Kryolan has elevated my makeup skill and forced me to venture into the unknown. I have learned so much about products, how to apply them to achieve the best results and how to give a flawless professional finish to my work, every time.”

What has being a Kryolan Ambassador meant to you?  

“Just shy of two years into my makeup journey and career, Kryolan took the chance on me, and my life has never been the same since! Having Kryolan in my media kit and representing a brand that is so well-known – and used by most of the best makeup artists in the world – is truly something else.

“I've made many new connections and friends during my time with the brand, and these are contacts I'll never lose and always hold so dear to me.”

What does the next step in your journey look like?

“The journey from here? Well, up, up UP!

“I have so many upcoming surprises in store with my career and social media growing at an amazing rate. I aim to use the skills I have learned in this industry to their full potential. You'll only see me flourishing. Who knows? You may just see me on a billboard soon (wink wink).

“Makeup opens the door to so many more possibilities and opportunities. I urge every brown queer male representing artist to keep pushing and making room for others just like us. We deserve a spot in this industry just like everyone else.”
