2024 has been a year of extraordinary strides for the 21st Century Foundation, as we continue to empower underserved schools and communities. Our recent participation in the rAge 2024 Expo marked another proud milestone in our mission to uplift and inspire.

A Memorable Experience at rAge 2024

On 29 November 2024, 100 Grade 9 learners and educators from Fons Luminis Secondary School, alongside our partner Bright Star Academy, attended the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec. This unique opportunity, graciously facilitated by our PR partner, The Lime Envelope, on behalf of rAge, South Africa’s premier gaming and technology expo, was more than just an outing—it was an immersion into the exciting world of gaming, IT, and digital innovation.

Bridging Education and Creativity

One of the most memorable highlights came courtesy of the Academy of Sound Engineering, who brought their DJ set to the event. An educator from Fons stepped up to mix tracks, showcasing an unexpected talent, while a student captivated the audience with an impromptu performance. This fusion of education, creativity, and fun provided an exhilarating example of how STEM subjects can be applied in dynamic and engaging ways.

Learners were amazed to see how their studies in technology, science, and maths could connect to fields like gaming, music, and engineering, sparking excitement for potential careers in these industries.

A Year of Collaboration and Transformation

The rAge visit is just one of many milestones for the Foundation in 2024. Highlights include the success of the "Education Uplifting Ikasi" Career and Entrepreneurship Expo and the continuation of our Maths and Science tutoring programme, both of which aim to close educational gaps and foster curiosity in critical subjects.

Our initiatives are built on collaboration. The rAge opportunity, made possible by Bright Star Academy and other partners, embodies the transformative power of partnerships in creating new opportunities for learners.
