DSA Members offer South Africans a Legit Economic Solution while Fraud & Scams Surge
Written by: WeRise WeRise Save to Instapaper
Accredited member companies of the Direct Selling Association of South Africa (DSA) provide thousands with an economic solution built on transparency, accessibility, and sustainability, in an economy where desperation often leads to risk amidst scams being on the rise. This along with unemployment at 31.9%, constantly exposes South Africans to questionable earning opportunities.
“Direct selling, when done through DSA member companies, is a critical economic solution, with low barriers to entry, minimal risk, and flexible earning potential while helping address high unemployment and fraud concerns,” says Rajesh Parshotam, DSA Chairperson. DSA member companies are vetted and offer an alternative of legitimate product or services sales where income is based on work ethic, rather than embellished promises of high returns. “Our member companies guide and mentor their Direct Sellers towards successful entrepreneurship assisting individuals in their journey towards financial freedom without the risk of losing their hard-earned savings.”
“Too many have lost money to get-rich-quick fraudulent schemes,” says Parshotam. According to Statistics South Africa, over half a million South Africans were scammed in 2024/25 and the Banking Association of South Africa warns that promises to ‘double your money in days’ are harder to resist as economic pressures mount.”
Parshotam shares, “Many fraudulent operations we’ve observed have been reported to authorities, and the DSA continues to monitor the industry landscape. It’s essential South Africans verify a company’s DSA membership before getting involved. Due diligence and DSA accreditation matter now more than ever.”
“For over 50 years, the DSA has ensured that its members uphold ethical and sustainable business operations that protect sellers and consumers,” says Imtiaz Ebrahim, DSA Secretariat. “Our mission is to help South Africans access real, secure income opportunities— a dependable route to economic independence and growth.”
The DSA adheres to a strict Code of Ethics aligned with the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA) and stands as a safeguard — helping South Africans earn honestly and confidently through accredited direct selling companies they can trust.
