Siyavela Impact Program launches to support CSI and NPO leaders

Johannesburg – 24 July 2024 – The Siyavela Impact Program, an initiative to support leaders across the corporate social investment and nonprofit sectors, launched with a spirited sundowner event at Emzini Restaurant in Westdene, Johannesburg, on Monday 22 July.
The launch event brought together leaders from across the corporate world, nonprofit bodies and grassroots community development projects. The value of this diversity in expanding their perspective beyond their own industries quickly became a theme of the evening.
Guests signed an interactive canvas celebrating the Siyavela launch on arrival, and had ample time to meet other leaders over sundowners. The Siyavela Impact partners shared a short and informal introduction to the Siyavela Impact Program before a fusion cuisine supper. A strong media presence also enabled guests to feature their work, with representatives from television and online platforms connecting with guests.
Conscious LeadHERs founder Carmen Murray said of the Siyavela Impact Program launch: “I loved hearing the stories, the goal to work closer with corporates to drive shared value. This is all about working together, learning together, and working smarter together for a better future and for a healthier society.”
The Siyavela Impact Program is a response to the challenges CSI, NPO and project leaders expressed in research conducted by the Siyavela partners. While these challenges manifest on the surface in underperforming projects and systems, the Siyavela partners identified three needs the program will address to enable success and sustainability.
These three needs of leaders the Siyavela Impact Program addresses are time, resources and community. The program offers them time to restore and develop themselves, resources, from knowledge and skills to human and financial, and a community of like-minded peers from beyond their own industries. The outcome is increased performance that delivers better results in development projects and ultimately a better life for the communities and individuals they serve.
The inaugural Siyavela Impact Program cohort kicks off in September 2024 and comprises a 3-day retreat, 12 monthly online skills development sessions, 3 in-person site visits to sustainable spaces and a sustained, online community of practice. 24 places are available for leaders from the CSI, NPO and development sectors in this initial session.
Leaders from the CSI, NPO and development sectors can apply to join the inaugural Siyavela Impact Program at www.siyavela.org, or with an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. before 31 July.
