Cape Town's Malikah Daniels – Trailblazer in Motorsport & Youth Empowerment
Written by: G-CAP Save to Instapaper
As South Africa commemorates Women’s Day and Month, Great Cape Ambassador Program (G-CAP) is proud to spotlight Malikah Daniels, its co-founder and esteemed chairperson. Daniels stands as a beacon of inspiration, leading the charge in the non-governmental organisation (NGO) space and shattering stereotypes in traditionally male-dominated fields. Her unwavering commitment to youth upliftment, particularly for young girls and women in under-resourced communities, exemplifies the spirit of resilience and empowerment.
Raised in the vibrant yet challenging communities of Retreat and Mitchell’s Plain, Malikah Daniels' upbringing instilled in her a profound sense of compassion and a fervent desire to create pathways of hope. "Growing up in that environment taught me resilience, compassion and the importance of giving back," Daniels reflects. "I saw firsthand how opportunities or the lack thereof could shape a young person’s future and it instilled in me a deep desire to create pathways of hope and empowerment for others. Those roots keep me grounded and fuel my drive to make an impact where it matters most."
Daniels' journey is a testament to the power of passion and practical experience. While she doesn’t come from a traditional academic background, her extensive hands-on work in project management, event coordination, and leadership has honed her ability to drive impactful initiatives. Her administrative prowess, particularly in managing artists and organisational operations, has been instrumental in G-CAP’s success.
Breaking Barriers in Motorsport: A Woman on the Track
One of Daniel’s most remarkable contributions lies in the world of motorsport, where she has been a trailblazer since 2008 with The Drift Squad, which led to the formation of the SR4A Road Safety Program. "Drifting was an adrenaline-filled way to connect with young people who love the car culture but need guidance on safe driving," she explains. "As one of the few women in this space, I wanted to show that motorsport isn’t just for men, it’s about skill, discipline and using that platform to educate and inspire." Her proudest achievement in this arena is witnessing how drifting has transformed into an effective educational tool within the SR4A program, guiding young people towards safer driving practices.
G-CAP: A Catalyst for Change
The genesis of G-CAP stemmed from Daniels’s realisation that many talented young individuals lacked opportunities to channel their potential. "We wanted to create an organisation that didn’t just talk about change but actively drove it through arts, culture and innovative programs like SR4A, Kids Music Fun and The BeatBangaz DJ Academy," Daniels states. G-CAP stands as a vital organisation, filling critical gaps in youth development by offering mentorship, creative education, and practical life skills—areas where traditional systems often fall short.
As an artist manager for prominent figures like Grandmaster Ready D and the Beatbangaz, Daniels seamlessly merges creativity with social impact. This work allows her to leverage music and culture as vehicles for positive messages and to create opportunities for emerging talent, connecting authentically with communities.
Empowering the Next Generation of Women Leaders
For Daniels, representation is paramount. "When young girls see women like me, whether in motorsport, leadership or business, they see what’s possible," she says. Through G-CAP, she is dedicated to creating safe spaces for mentorship, skills development, and self-expression, empowering girls to believe in their potential and equipping them with the tools to pursue their dreams, regardless of their circumstances.

Daniels, as Chairperson of G-CAP, embodies the spirit of a woman leading with strength, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to community. Her leadership is building a lasting legacy of empowerment and opportunity.
