African and European Marketing Confederations Join Forces to Advance Global Marketing Landscape

Submitted by: Lunice Johnston

The European Marketing Confederation (EMC) and the African Marketing Confederation (AMC) have announced a strategic partnership to enhance the global marketing landscape. This collaboration is centred on sharing best practices, advancing skills, and promoting education in marketing, sales, and service across continents.

A Unified Vision for Professional Development

EMC, representing 100,000 marketing professionals across 12 European countries, and AMC, a network of 30,000 marketing professionals spanning 16 African nations, have set a shared goal to:

  • Exchange knowledge and strengthen skills and competency profiles.
  • Foster development in training and education.
  • Advance industry-wide certification standards.

This partnership comes at a critical time, as the marketing, sales, and service industries undergo rapid transformations driven by data strategies, real-time customer interactions, and AI-powered technologies.

Bridging Global Marketing Challenges

“The trends we are seeing across Europe are mirrored in many ways by the challenges that marketers face in Africa,” stated Helen McIntee, Co-founder and President of AMC. She emphasised how this collaboration aligns African marketing practices with global standards while boosting capacity for cross-border trade.

Digital marketing plays an increasingly pivotal role in developing regions. The partnership aims to address challenges highlighted in EMC’s European Marketing Agenda, such as:

  • Lack of standardised processes.
  • Insufficient subject matter expertise.
  • Challenges in bridging business and IT for digital transformation.

Introducing the African Marketing Agenda 2025

A key initiative of this partnership is the adaptation of the European Marketing Agenda into the African Marketing Agenda 2025, which launches in the new year. This report will provide:

  • Insights into regional challenges and opportunities.
  • Benchmarks for marketing professionals across Africa.
  • Analysis of evolving digital marketing trends.

EMC and AMC: Expanding Perspectives

Ralf Strauss, EMC Chairman, highlighted the importance of global collaboration: “As EMC continues to grow, adopting a global outlook is essential. Africa’s rapidly evolving marketing and digital landscape makes this partnership a natural and important step. This is just the beginning, and we are excited about future opportunities for cooperation.”

Advancing Global Marketing Standards

The EMC-AMC collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enhancing the marketing profession worldwide. By fostering stronger connections and advancing digital competencies, the partnership equips marketing professionals with the skills, tools, and insights needed to thrive in today’s digital world.
