Safari Travel Is Becoming More Than a Lodge Stay

GREATER KRUGER, South Africa, 20 August 2026, Bundox Safari Co. has introduced its Live Wild Packages, a collection of multi-day safari journeys designed to combine wildlife viewing with conservation, walking trails, retreat experiences, birding and optional extensions across Southern Africa.
The collection reflects a shift in how travellers are planning safari holidays. For many guests, the decision is no longer only about where to stay, but about what the journey should include, how active it should be and how different experiences can fit together.
Bundox has structured the Live Wild Packages around those different priorities.
Different Safari Styles for Different Travellers
The current collection includes Live Wild & Conserve, Live Wild Retreat, Wild Trail & Retreat and Wild Birding Explorer.
Each package focuses on a different way of experiencing the wilderness.
Live Wild & Conserve places conservation alongside traditional safari activities. Wild Trail & Retreat brings more time on foot into the journey, while Wild Birding Explorer caters to travellers with a specialist interest in birdlife. Live Wild Retreat combines wildlife experiences with a slower pace and more time to unwind.
This gives travellers a clearer way to compare safari options according to their interests rather than simply choosing between different lodges.
“The Live Wild collection reflects the way we want to develop safari travel across our business,” said a spokesperson for Bundox Safari Co. “Rather than repeating the same experience from one property to another, each part of the journey should add something different. Wildlife remains central, but conservation, time on foot, different landscapes and opportunities to slow down can all become part of the same itinerary.”
A Broader Role Than Accommodation Alone
Bundox operates a portfolio of safari lodges and camps in Southern Africa, but the business also operates as a destination management company.
That means a safari package can be planned as part of a wider journey rather than as a standalone lodge booking.
Accommodation, transfers, activities, routing and additional destinations can be coordinated around the core safari experience. This is relevant to direct travellers, but also to travel advisors, tour operators and safari specialists looking for one regional partner across multiple parts of an itinerary.
For the travel trade, the Live Wild structure provides defined safari products while still allowing room to tailor the wider journey around a client’s available time, interests and onward travel plans.
Travel advisors and tour operators can also register as Bundox agents to work with the company on accommodation, safari packages and broader Southern African itinerary planning.
PLUS Extensions Add More Variety
Selected journeys can also be extended through Live Wild Package PLUS options.
PLUS is not a separate safari package. It is a selection of optional additions that can be built into an existing Live Wild itinerary.
Current options include the Panorama Route, additional nights or day-trip experiences in Kruger National Park, wilderness stargazing and sleep-out experiences, and South African Winelands getaways.
The idea is to add contrast to the journey rather than simply adding more nights of similar safari activities.
A Greater Kruger safari can therefore continue into a scenic road journey, additional time in Kruger National Park, a night under the stars or a Winelands stay, depending on the traveller’s interests.
Why This Matters for Southern African Travel
The Live Wild approach responds to a practical question many safari travellers face: how do you choose between packages that appear similar at first glance?
The answer often comes down to what is included beyond the room and game drive.
Meals, transfers, conservation levies, specialist activities, travel time between properties and the pace of the itinerary can all affect the value of a package.
For travellers comparing South African safari packages, that means the best option is not always the longest or the one with the most activities. It is the one where the wildlife, accommodation, pace and additional experiences fit the way they want to travel.
Current package dates and Bundox safari availability vary by itinerary, with direct travellers and trade partners able to enquire about suitable Live Wild Packages, PLUS extensions and wider destination planning.
