A More Private Way to Propose on the Garden Route
WILDERNESS, WESTERN CAPE, Consensuality has introduced three Garden Route proposal packages for couples wanting a private alternative to proposing at a public viewpoint, restaurant or tourist attraction. Based at Naughty by Nature near Wilderness and George, the two-night packages combine private accommodation with proposal styling, photography and advance planning, while higher package levels add experiences including a private chef dinner, couples massage and live music.
The idea is to remove much of the organisation that normally sits behind the big question. The proposing partner still decides how the moment should happen, but Consensuality coordinates the setting and included suppliers before the couple arrives.
The proposal becomes part of the two-night stay
Naughty by Nature is Consensuality’s private adults-only couples cabin near Wilderness and George on South Africa’s Garden Route. Rather than using the property simply as somewhere to stay before or after the proposal, the packages are built around the occasion itself.
Every package includes two nights at the cabin, proposal styling and setup, proposal-moment photography and a private briefing before arrival.
The person proposing shares the intended timing, what their partner knows and the details required to protect the surprise. Consensuality describes the process as: “You book and brief us privately – ring logistics, timing, what your partner should and shouldn’t know.”
The cabin is prepared before arrival, while the suppliers included in the selected package are scheduled for specific parts of the stay. A photographer, chef, massage therapist or musician does not remain at the property for the entire weekend; they arrive for the relevant part of the experience and leave afterwards.
This allows the remainder of the stay to remain private for the couple.
Three Garden Route proposal packages are available
The Ask is priced at R24,000 for two nights and includes accommodation at Naughty by Nature, full cabin styling and setup, proposal-moment photography and the private pre-arrival briefing.
The Ask Elevated, priced at R48,000 for two nights, adds elevated styling, a private chef dinner experience, a 90-minute couples massage and a live musician.
The Full Seduction is priced at R53,000 for two nights and includes the most elaborate styling option together with the private chef dinner, 90-minute couples massage, proposal photography and live musician.
All three packages are based on a two-night stay, and Consensuality recommends allowing at least 10 days' notice so that the proposal and relevant suppliers can be coordinated.
Current pricing, inclusions and package information are available on the official marriage proposal packages for Wilderness and the Garden Route page.
Privacy extends beyond the proposal itself
The location is an important part of the offering. Naughty by Nature is a secluded cabin reserved for one couple, with no shared walls or other guests on the property during the stay.
The cabin includes a private hot tub, an adults-only playroom and interiors designed around couples and intimacy. This means the proposal does not have to end with the couple leaving a public location and returning to unrelated accommodation elsewhere.
For couples already travelling through the Garden Route, the two-night stay can also form part of a wider South African road trip or holiday. Wilderness and George place the property within the Garden Route, allowing travellers to incorporate the proposal into time already being spent in the region.
The approach is particularly relevant to couples who want the setting and photographs associated with a destination proposal but would prefer not to manage multiple venues and suppliers independently.
Planning begins with a private enquiry
The process starts with the proposing partner sharing the intended dates and information about how they want the proposal to unfold. Consensuality can then coordinate the selected package around those requirements and the available timing.
Couples considering a Garden Route proposal can review the full proposal package options or use the Consensuality enquiry page to discuss their plans privately.
