Bothongo Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve Launches Sunset Safari Game Drives

The Bothongo Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve is bringing a brand-new adventure to wildlife lovers with the launch of its Sunset Safari Game Drives, taking place every Saturday and Sunday evening from 17:00 to 19:00.
Only a short drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria, the reserve, nestled in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, offers visitors the chance to experience the wild in a whole new light.
Guests will be guided through over 1,200 hectares of pristine Savannah Highveld grasslands and rugged mountainous terrain, home to more than 600 head of game and 30 different species, including lion, white rhino, buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, hippo, crocodile, and over 20 species of antelope. The two-hour guided drive offers breathtaking photo opportunities and the chance to witness the transition of the reserve’s wildlife from day to night.
“There is nothing quite like being in the heart of the bush as the sun sets. The golden light transforms the landscape, and the bushveld comes alive with a different energy,” says field guide Didi Mahlo. “There’s something magical about watching the bush come alive as the sun sets, the calls of the night creatures, the shifting light, and the chance to see some of our most iconic wildlife preparing for evening activity. It’s a completely different perspective of the African wilderness. These drives allow our guests to experience the magic of the Highveld at its most peaceful and dramatic hour, creating memories that truly last.”
