BYD To Unveil The New Sealion 5 Next Week As Hybrid Demand Surges In South Africa

BYD Auto South Africa will debut the new Sealion 5 on Thursday, 4 December 2025, where the full model range and pricing will be confirmed for the first time. 

The Sealion 5 introduces BYD’s latest Super Plug-in Hybrid technology to the South African market, combining electric driving with the assurance of extended range. The new SUV boasts a strong mix of efficiency, safety and everyday practicality, with highlights that include a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, wireless charging, intelligent voice control, and a large infotainment display. Built for urban families and designed to be a volume driver in BYD’s local lineup, it reflects the BYD’s belief that advanced technology should be both accessible and functional.
