Triple Crown for Vanstippen at King of the Whip 2024
Submitted by: Craig JarvisJohannesburg, South Africa – Belgian Freestyle Motocross (FMX) rider Julien Vanstippen successfully defended his title at King of the Whip 2024, claiming his third consecutive win in front of a sold-out crowd at Montecasino.
This adrenaline-pumping event, presented by LW Mag in association with Ford, Monster Energy, Yamaha, Garmin, Motul, GoPro, PlayTSOGO, and Estrella Cerveza, showcased top-tier talent with over 20 of the world’s best FMX and Motocross riders competing for a share of the R225,000 cash prize and other rewards.
An Event of International Acclaim
Ryan van der Spuy, event organiser, noted the event’s rising global recognition:
“Every year, this event exceeds expectations. Hosting seven international riders alongside our local stars demonstrates the event’s growth and its standing in the international motocross community.”
For the first time, King of the Whip hosted an official riders’ press conference and partnered with PlayTSOGO, enabling fans to bet on their favourite riders.

Before the evening's main event, the Best Trick Right-Side-Up and Best Trick Upside-Down contests thrilled the audience:

Bowden wowed the crowd with tricks like a Holy Grab to Double Hart-Attack Lookback and a Holy Grab to Rock Solid Indie.

Bowden secured victory with an impressive lineup, including a Backflip No Hander and a Backflip Cliffhanger.

Best Whip Final
The Best Whip final featured high-octane action under dazzling pyrotechnics. In a heated showdown between Tom Parsons (USA), riding the Stark Varg electric bike, and defending champion Julien Vanstippen, Vanstippen claimed victory to secure his Triple Crown.
