Written by: RMB Save to Instapaper
One of the biggest events in South African school rowing is back! From the 28th of February to the 2nd of March, the Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) South African Schools Rowing Championships will take place at Roodeplaat Dam in Gauteng, bringing together the country’s best young rowers for a weekend of fierce competition, school pride, and fast-paced racing.
With over 1,500 athletes competing across a range of boat classes, SA Champs marks the pinnacle of the school rowing season. Months of hard work, early mornings, and thousands of strokes all lead to this—one final showdown on the national stage.
RMB continues to back the next generation of South African rowers, ensuring they have the platform to race at the highest level. Sponsorships Marketing Lead at RMB, Michael Edwards, reflects on RMB’s partnership:
“SA Schools Rowing Champs is an annual showcase of the best young rowing talent in the country. It’s served as a catalyst for many kickstarting their journey towards the RMB National Squad and international competition. We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with this event and the quintessential school spirit of competition that it represents"
With rivalries reigniting, new talent emerging, and national titles on the line, SA Champs 2025 promises fast-paced, high-stakes racing that will push crews to their limits. Whether you’re a rower, coach, parent, or fan—this is an event you don’t want to miss.
If you can’t make it to the dam, tune in to SuperSport for live streaming of the regatta and follow all the action on Rowing SA’s social media pages. Get involved and experience the excitement wherever you are!
