Big build-up to 2024 Ignition Group Polocrosse World Cup semi-finals

After a two-day rest, the action kicked off once again at KwaZulu-Natal’s Durban Shongweni Club in the Valley of 1000 Hills on Day 4 of the 2024 Ignition Group Polocrosse World Cup.

Thursday saw the Northern Hemisphere teams Ireland and the UK go head-to-head in the first round of playoffs, with Ireland victorious with a score of 27-22. The second round of playoffs saw Zimbabwe beat the USA 28-17.

The South African Development side also got the chance to take on the Rest of the World Barbarian side, featuring players from South America, Canada, and Europe, among others – with the up-and-coming South African side taking a narrow win of 16-15.

They’ll get a second chance to improve this score tomorrow (Friday, 26 July) with the much-anticipated semi-finals scheduled for 10.30am and 2.30pm.

The first match will see two-time World Cup champs South Africa take on Zambia, before the reigning champions, Australia take on New Zealand. Playoffs will continue on Saturday (27 July) and Sunday (27 July) with the final contest for the 2024 Ignition Group Polocrosse World Cup title at 1pm on Sunday.
