The annual ORT Jet Padel Tournament will return on Sunday, 31 August 2025, offering players a chance to compete for a share of R40,000 in prize money while supporting the growth of small businesses across South Africa.
Taking place at the Padel & Social Club in James & Ethel Gray Park, the tournament is divided into two skill-based categories: Beginner–Intermediate and Advanced–Pro, with R20,000 in prize money allocated to each. Teams of two can register for R5,000, with all proceeds supporting ORT Jet’s business mentorship and training programmes.
Established as a division of ORT SA, ORT Jet has provided support to over 3,000 entrepreneurs over the past two decades, through a combination of mentorship, business development training, and access to professional networks. The tournament is part of the organisation’s ongoing fundraising and awareness efforts.
According to Helene Itzkin, Head of ORT Jet, the event is designed to offer both competitive and community value.
“ORT Jet uses the power of sport to unite communities and support small businesses, the true drivers of our economy. South Africans, have the power make a difference. Buy local. Support local,” she says.
The tournament will run from 08:00 to 13:00, with additional on-site features including a family zone, children’s activities, a Mentor Gazebo highlighting ORT Jet’s advisory network, and food and drink vendors. The venue is pet-friendly, and members of the public are welcome to attend and support the event.
