Sapphire Coast Tourism and the Amanzimtoti Athletics Club are proud to announce the return of the much-anticipated Sapphire Coast Marathon, taking place on Sunday, 26 October 2025. Marathon runners are encouraged to take advantage of the Early Bird Entries for this Comrades Qualifier, with sales for these closing on 6 October 2025.
“This annual highlight on the running calendar continues to attract athletes from across the country as an early Comrades Marathon qualifier, while also offering runners and visitors a chance to experience the beauty and hospitality of our beautiful Sapphire Coast,” commented Dore Uys of Amanzimtoti Athletics Club. “We are delighted to announce that this year, R5 of every entry will be donated to the non-profit organisation, The Jona Vaughan Home.”
Established in 1984 in Amanzimtoti, The Jona Vaughan Home provides 24-hour care and residency to mentally and physically disabled individuals from all economic and cultural backgrounds, with more than 31% of the residents abandoned or orphaned. The funds raised through the Sapphire Coast Marathon will go a long way in providing much-needed support to every resident.
Romy Wenzel of Sapphire Coast Tourism, proud supporter of the Sapphire Coast Marathon, called for this to be the biggest race yet: “The Sapphire Coast Marathon is not only an important step in Comrades preparation, but also a true celebration of the Sapphire Coast community, with this year’s support for The Jona Vaughan Home indicative of this.”
