{pp}Vehicle theft statistics published by InsuranceHound.co.za reveal that pickup trucks, also called 'bakkies' in South Africa, are the most popular type of vehicle among car thieves. This type of vehicle was the overwhelming favorite with half of the top 20 most stolen vehicles being 'bakkies'. Luxury sedans were the next most sought after vehicle type.
