From Virtual Learning to Victory - Holy Rosary Matrics Achieve 100% Pass Rate

Holy Rosary School for Girls in Edenvale has celebrated an exceptional achievement for the Class of 2024, with a 100% pass rate among its 82 matriculants and 99% securing Bachelor passes. The class collectively achieved 197 distinctions, reflecting a distinction ratio of 2.4 per student. Two pupils exceeded averages of 90%, and 16 secured averages between 80% and 89%.
Exceptional Achievements
The school earned national recognition with one student on the IEB Outstanding Achievers List, attaining Level 7 in Life Orientation and six other subjects. Additionally, two students received IEB Commendable Achievement awards, ranking in the top 5% nationally across five subjects with Level 7 in Life Orientation. Five students achieved top 1% placement nationally in eight subjects.
Notable student achievements include:
- Kelsey De Witte, with a 91.3% average, nine distinctions, and national top 1% rankings in five subjects, is set to study medicine at Wits University.
- Boitumelo Maenetja, Head Girl, achieved an average of 90.43% with eight distinctions, including top 1% recognition in CAT. She also plans to study medicine.
- Amarachi Obiedelu, excelling in both sports and academics, achieved five distinctions with an 82% average. She intends to pursue Actuarial Science.
A Legacy of Academic Excellence
Holy Rosary students surpassed IEB National Averages in 16 subjects, with strong performances in Mathematics, IT, and Physical Sciences. Among the top results, students scored over 90% in a variety of subjects, including English, Afrikaans, Geography, and Music.
Remarkable Resilience
Despite personal challenges, many students excelled. For instance, Nicola McDonald achieved seven distinctions while managing personal hardships, and Jessica Walsh overcame dyslexia to earn four distinctions.

Commenting on the Class of 2024, Dr Deon Oerson, Head of School, highlighted their resilience and ability to thrive under challenging conditions. "These learners have demonstrated exceptional courage and unity, embodying our school’s ethos and spirit of excellence.”
