“At AfriSam, we believe in understanding the needs of communities in areas where we do business so that we are able to make meaningful contributions to their upliftment”, says Johan Fourie, AfriSam General Manager at the company’s Ulco factory. Fourie says investing in education is vital to AfriSam and where possible the company is always willing to assist schools like Delportshoop High School because they provide an essential service to these children’s lives and in turn ensuring a better tomorrow.
“We are confident that the laptops did not only assist with preparing of results but will in future contribute to the pupils’ computer skills and more efficient processing of administration and paperwork for the school”, added Fourie.Besides the laptops, the thieves also took projectors and an undisclosed amount of money. This impacted activity for the school as it affected 17 classes in total.
“We lost all our computers and we could not complete important tasks, we are very grateful to AfriSam as they have given us a great gift and our students will be able to continue their studies without any disturbances to their curriculum”, added Andre de Kock, Principal of Delportshoop High School.AfriSam has been in involved in many other CSR initiatives in the area and will continue to play its part in creating concrete possibilities for these communities.
