Empact Group Puts Women’s Wellness at the Heart of Women’s Day 2025

Empact Group took a bold step in celebrating Women’s Day this year by turning the spotlight on health and wellbeing in an event that broke from convention. On Friday 8 August, women across the organisation gathered for a day designed to inspire, empower and support them in every aspect of their lives – with the highlight being a yoga session led by none other than Empact Group CEO, Alan Quinn.
The theme, Women First, Health Always, reflected the company’s belief that wellbeing is the foundation for women to flourish in their careers and personal lives. The programme was built around Empact’s H-E-A-L-T-H principles – Happy, Empowered, Active, Lively, Tenacious, Hopeful – values the organisation hopes every woman in its workforce will embody.
In Gauteng, the day opened with a calming yoga practice guided by Alan Quinn, who is known for leading weekly sessions at Empact’s Johannesburg head office. “Wellness is not a side activity – it is an essential part of life and leadership,” said Quinn. “It was a privilege to share this moment with the women of Empact. Yoga is about strength, balance and mindfulness, qualities I see in our team every day.” Similar programmes, tailored to local teams, were also held at the Cape Town and KwaZulu-Natal offices to ensure women across Empact experienced the same focus on health and empowerment.
Following the yoga and meditation session, employees heard from a line-up of speakers who tackled different aspects of women’s health and empowerment:
- Sarika Sujan, IPC Specialist at Empact Group, shared practical insights on physical and mental wellbeing across life stages, helping women recognise the signs that their health needs attention.
- Timiya Miyen from Momentum addressed financial wellbeing, offering practical guidance on building financial security and reducing the pressures that come with poor financial management.
- Sinehlanhlana Cele, Food by Empact Group’s Dietitian, gave targeted nutrition advice tailored to each decade of a woman’s life, from their 20s to their senior years.
- Charles Muller, Facilities Management by Empact Group Manager and martial arts expert, closed the programme with a self-defence segment, encouraging vigilance and self-preservation as the first line of safety.
Sanele Mlambo, Group Marketing & Communications Executive, explained the thinking behind this year’s focus. “We wanted our Women’s Day to reflect the full spectrum of what it means to be well – physically, mentally and financially. Over 74% of our employees are women, and 66% of our managerial roles are held by women. This was about recognising that strength and supporting it with care.”
Empact Group’s commitment to gender equality and transformation goes beyond the annual celebration. The company continues to accelerate progress in increasing female representation in leadership roles, while building a workplace culture where wellbeing is actively encouraged.
Quinn summed up the spirit of the day: “Empact is about people. When we invest in the health of our people, we invest in the health of our organisation. Women’s Day 2025 reminded us that wellness is not a luxury – it’s a responsibility we all share.”
