The Community Shows Support For Another Successful Boroughs Of Bedfordview Run

Bedfordview Athletics Club hosted a successful Boroughs Of Bedfordview run on 25 September 2023, powered by Afrihost. Participants enjoyed a 15km and 5km run on the Heritage long weekend through the beautiful suburb of Bedfordview on a very windy morning.

The top three male runners (15km) are:

1. Rirhandzu Rhangani.
2. Bright Mikolongwe.
3. Thabo Motaung. 

The top three female runners (15km) are:

1. Regina Ndlovu.
2. Cornelia Joubert.
3. Tebogo Keganneng Mokgosinyane.

The 5km fun walk/run was well supported by the Bedfordview community and race organisers Bedfordview Athletics has donated R25000 to Better Bedfordview from the net proceeds. Better Bedfordview is a not-for-profit civil society organisation that is cleaning, tidying and improving the area, and creating employment. It is funded by caring and community-spirited residents and businesses. The race organisers were very grateful that they fixed potholes on the race route, painted road markings and keep our pavements clean and tidy.

"Bedfordview Athletics would like to extend warm thanks to the sponsors, service providers, volunteers from our running club and community, schools and businesses," said Race Director Charnia Yapp from Bedfordview Athletics.

The event would not be possible without the race sponsorship from Afrihost and their awesome race shirts, socks, internet vouchers, spot prizes, waters at the finish and the free race photos. Donations and prizes were received from many local businesses and some well known brands: Extreme Wear, Trulab Cosmetics, Harcourts Kempen, The Luggage Company, Reactive Wellness, Anita Active Sports wear, Joint Eze, Vaseline, Vita Plus, Kloof Animal Clinic, Redfern Labels, Little Fishes Swim school, and Relax Restore Recover Mobile Sports Massage.

Thanks to Holy Rosary and St Benedict’s College for their help and amazing spirit as they supported the runners at the water points. Thanks to RAG and Blue Hawk Tactical for keeping watch over the marshals on the race route, and BCPF for doing patrols.The phenomenal service providers ensured a well-run event: ABI, ASM Safety Consultants, AllyCats, B-One Toilet Hire, Easy Waste, EMPD, Dial A Medic, In Detail Advertising, Lodge Security and Peak Timing.
