Phil Gregory Releases New Single “Footprint” – A Story of Love Washed Away by the Tide

Country artist Phil Gregory returns with a brand-new single, “Footprint,” a heartfelt track lifted from his forthcoming EP.

“Footprint” tells the story of a fleeting holiday romance—two people swept up in the joy of the moment, but with very different perspectives. For one, the connection blossoms into something more, a love they hope to carry forward. For the other, it remains nothing more than a chapter of fun in the sun, a memory destined to fade.

The upcoming EP (release date TBA) will showcase six songs written around the many sides of relationships, from the intensity of lust in “Number on My Mind” to the heartbreak and healing of a broken marriage in “Heart & Soul.” “Footprint” captures the bittersweet balance between hope and loss, offering a relatable story told with Gregory’s trademark warmth and honesty.

Born in the south of England in the 1950s and now based between the UK and South Africa, his sound blends country, rock and pop, a mix that shapes his distinctive take on contemporary country music.

His debut album Good Intentions (2020) introduced his voice to a wider audience, with the single “Names” breaking into the Top 100 on Mix FM South Africa. He followed with EP 22: Not Out (2022), featuring “Movin’ On”—which earned spots on Apple Music South Africa’s New Music Daily and New Singer-Songwriter playlists—as well as tracks like “Nowhere For Our Love To Hide” and “Holding Candles.”

In 2024, the nostalgic EP Botley Drive showcased Gregory’s roots, inspired by his childhood home in Leigh Park, Portsmouth. Songs like “If I Can’t Have You” and “Key To Your Heart” gained broad radio play across South Africa.

Phil Gregory’s music continues to bridge memory and melody, weaving the nostalgia of his British upbringing with the contemporary sounds of South African country pop. His collaboration with nephew Billy Gregory (of UK band Crystal Tides) adds a modern edge to his timeless storytelling.
