Get ready for a hearty serving of laughs as one of South Africa’s most beloved comedians, Kurt Schoonraad, takes the stage at Montecasino’s Studio Theatre with his brand-new one-man show, Funny Side Up. Running from 6 to 17 August 2025, this not-to-be-missed comedy special delivers 70 minutes of wit, warmth, and the signature humour that has made Kurt a household name.
After a hugely successful run at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town, Joburg can get ready for a laugh-out-loud experience as one of South Africa’s most recognizable and influential comedians, Kurt Schoonraad, takes to the stage and is ready to dazzle Johannesburg audiences once more.In Funny Side Up, Kurt tackles the absurdities of modern life - navigating chaos, confronting change, and finding the humour in it all. With his sharp insights and undeniable charm, he reminds audiences that sometimes, the best way to stay sane in a crazy world is simply to laugh it off.
“Funny Side Up is just a metaphor for keeping your sense of humour intact,” says Kurt. “Things have been tough for a lot of us in recent years, but laughter really is one of the best tools we have to get through it.”
