Rands Holidae 2024 Postponement
Submitted by: Clayton MorarTo our cherished community and supporters of Rands Holidae and Rands Cape Town,
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the postponement of the inaugural Rands Holidae festival, which was originally scheduled for November 2024. This decision follows thorough consideration and extensive discussions with local authorities, stakeholders, and our legal team.
Earlier this year, we celebrated a significant milestone with the acquisition of Mooigelee Farm, the envisioned home of Rands Holidae. We moved swiftly from planning to execution, securing critical infrastructure such as irrigation, electrical works, plumbing, and landscaping. We had successfully completed 90% of artist bookings, brand partnerships, sponsorships, and logistics—all essential components for delivering the immersive, unforgettable experience we promised.
Challenges with Municipal Regulations
However, in a recent meeting with the Swartland Municipality, we were made aware of significant challenges related to municipal bylaws and the rezoning process. These legislative requirements differ greatly from those in the City of Cape Town, where we are accustomed to operating. After careful discussions with our legal team, partners, and municipal officials, we have had to make the incredibly difficult decision to postpone Rands Holidae 2024.
While this setback is disheartening, we remain optimistic and committed to our vision. The dream of Rands Holidae is not gone, only delayed. We are already looking forward to a brighter 2025 and are deeply grateful for the continued support from our community. Together, we know we will come back stronger.
Rands Summer Sessions: An Amplified Experience
Although we cannot proceed with Rands Holidae 2024, we are excited to announce an amplified Rands Summer Sessions experience this December. From November 29 to January 3, Rands in Khayelitsha will host a musical and experiential celebration featuring all the artists originally announced for Rands Holidae, along with some additional surprises. This event promises to be an unforgettable celebration of music, culture, and community.
uDecember will still be uDecember, and iParty izoQhubeka!
As a gesture of appreciation, we are offering free general access entry for everyone on the following dates:
- November 29, 2024
- November 30, 2024
- December 1, 2024
We can’t wait to share this incredible experience with you!
