Young Conservationists Take the Lead at Crocworld’s WildED Holiday Camp

The WildED Holiday Camp concluded a successful week at Crocworld Conservation Centre over the school holidays, giving young adventurers a hands-on introduction to conservation, outdoor skills, and teamwork. Hosted at the WildED Learning Hub by experienced camp leaders, the programme saw youngsters participate in orienteering challenges, a hike to Green Point Lighthouse, and real-world conservation work at Crocworld Conservation Centre in Scottburgh.
This included supervised animal interactions, birding, team building exercises, survival skills, shelter building - plus a visit to Jikileza Outdoor Adventures, the only aerial adventure zipline in the region.
The week ended with an Adventure Race that brought together the skills and confidence built throughout the programme. Matt Machell-Cox, co-owner of WildED Africa and programme director, commented: “It was great to welcome new and returning youngsters to our holiday adventure. These hands-on experiences play a vital role in connecting young people with nature while encouraging environmental awareness through real-world experiences. We’re looking forward to introducing more kids to the natural world through our upcoming camps and events!” Crocworld and WildED Africa will host more youth-focused camps and conservation activities in the coming year.
Families are encouraged to stay connected via Crocworld Conservation Centre and WildED Africa’s social media platforms for updates on upcoming events.
