Could you be the next Miss Soweto?

The Miss Soweto Pageant, in association with White Star, is searching for Miss Soweto 2016. The campaign launched on Saturday the 13 th of August 2016 at Maponya Mall in Soweto. Hundreds of hopefuls aged between 18 and 24 flocked to the mall to enter this popular beauty pageant. For the past 38 years, the Miss Soweto pageant has been one of Gauteng’s most anticipated and beloved annual entertainment events.

According to White Star’s Marketing Manager, Mokhele Makhothi, “Miss Soweto plays a very important role in providing a platform for girls and women from Soweto to be empowered. Contestants receive mentorship and guidance to help them excel in life and make a positive contribution in the community. White Star has been a proud sponsor of Miss Soweto for the past seven years, and as South Africa’s favourite brand of maize meal, we are proud to play a part in the enrichment of the young women of Soweto.”

“Miss Soweto as a platform continues to be an incredible opportunity for young women like myself. Being Miss Soweto has opened doors and has equipped me to take on challenges within my community. I’ve become a better person and I am proud to have made a difference in Soweto during my reign. My wish for the next Miss Soweto is that she will continue to carry forward the vision of the pageant, with the understanding that it offers one so much more than being just a beauty queen,” adds Buhle Xulu, Miss Soweto 2015.

A call for all qualifying ladies to enter the Miss Soweto 2016 opened officially on 13 th August and will close on the 27 th of September 2016. Entries can be found at misssoweto.whitestarquick.co.za or hopefuls must visit the White Star Facebook page. Once all entries have been received, auditions will be held throughout Soweto to select the top 20 contestants. These contestants will go through an intense training period of coaching, judging, rehearsals and public appearances before the gala finals event on the 3 rd of December 2016 at Soweto Theatre.
