Celebrating 10 Years of Jazz Brilliance - MJA Partners with State Theatre for Landmark Season

On 24 February 2026, Mzantsi Jazz Awards (MJA) invited media people for a small lunch as a small thank you for a decade of support. It was also to inform our media friends of what is coming up at the MJA Season 10.
One of the critical things that was on the agenda was the 10th celebration of MJA, and there are a number of initiatives that will be undertaken as a build-up to the awards.
This will begin with the season opener event on the 6th of March - venue to be confirmed. The season will culminate with the 10th MJA taking place at the South African State Theatre on the 15th of August 2026.
The announcement of the partnership with the South African State Theatre was another important announcement on the agenda, where MJA will be for the next 3 years.
The call to move to Tshwane is MJA's commitment to jazz in South Africa, particularly the City of Tshwane and its surroundings, including Mamelodi and Atteridgeville, which have served as a hub for jazz, giving us artists like Gabi Motuba, Jessie Mogale, Dolly Rathebe, and others.
The last announcement was regarding the nomination period, which will open from 9 March 2026 to 9 May 2026.
It was great to have lunch with some members of the media fraternity. MJA thanked them for their continued support over the last 10 years!
