Hytera Marks 15 Years in Africa with Mission Critical Communications Showcase at AfricaCom 2025
Written by: Mark Zheng Save to Instapaper
Johannesburg, South Africa, 17 November 2025 - Hytera Communications, a leading global provider of critical communications technologies and solutions, marked its fifteen-year presence in Africa with a comprehensive showcase of convergent, rugged, and mission-critical communication solutions at AfricaCom 2025 in Cape Town.
Mark Zheng, Managing Director for Hytera Southern Africa, said, “the milestone reflects the company’s long-term commitment to supporting essential industries across the continent”.
According to Zheng, Hytera’s technologies have consistently enabled public safety, energy, security, transportation, and critical care environments to operate with greater resilience and reliability.
Hytera introduced a range of new and updated products at this year’s event. These included the P60 Smart PoC Radio which enables boundary free calling and multimedia collaboration for frontline teams working in remote or infrastructure poor regions. The PDC690 dual mode rugged radio was also featured for its seamless broadband and narrowband capabilities that ensure uninterrupted field operations under challenging conditions.
The Smart LTE Body Camera SC700 generated significant interest due to its high-definition evidence capture and integration with Hytera’s Digital Evidence Management Platform. This combination enhances situational awareness, transparency and operational accountability for law enforcement and emergency services.
At the centre of Hytera’s presence was its Command-and-Control Centre and Unified Communications Platform. This platform integrates devices, data and dispatch into a single intelligent ecosystem that supports real time coordination and quicker decision making. Hytera also showcased its 4G and 5G solutions based on 3GPP standards. These include network components such as the BBU5801M and the RRU5800 which enable a smooth, staged evolution into broadband and future 5G capabilities while protecting existing PMR investments.
For mobile network operators and systems integrators, Hytera’s convergent portfolio provides a standards-based path toward expanding network value into high-demand critical communications markets without replacing established infrastructure.
Zheng said this approach positions Hytera as a technology partner capable of addressing Africa’s rapid digital transformation as well as the operational challenges faced across remote, high risk and time sensitive environments.
Zheng noted that “Hytera’s portfolio supports industries that must transmit multimedia data from isolated sites, maintain communication reliability during hazardous operations and keep dispersed teams connected when response times directly influence safety”.
Hytera also hosted its annual networking dinner on 12 November. The event brought together long-standing partners, customers and industry leaders from across Africa. The evening celebrated a year of collaboration, shared insights and future planning for stronger and more resilient communication systems supporting mission-critical services in 2026 and beyond.
Zheng said that “AfricaCom continues to be an essential platform for engaging partners and peers. He added that Hytera’s strength lies in converging TETRA, DMR, and PoC systems to achieve stronger interoperability and smarter city and enterprise management”.
He reaffirmed Hytera’s commitment to supporting Africa’s digital transformation and enabling mission-critical industries to thrive through innovation and collaboration.
Hytera’s Southern Africa office in Johannesburg anchors the company’s long-term presence on the continent by providing technical support, training and capacity building. Through close work with local partners, Hytera continues to contribute to the evolution of Africa’s communications landscape by empowering communities, improving resilience and building safer, better-connected environments.
