Tobacco Fumigation Services Delivered By Fumigation International Mozambique
Written by: Save to InstapaperFumigation International Mozambique, who have their company permanently based in Mozambique, conduct quality tobacco fumigation services in Tete and Beira Mozambique. When requested they also carry out these fumigation services in Malawi. The management of the company start these services by sending out two of their teams to Tete and Beira so that they can spray and clean the Mozambique Agronomy and Storage facilities. The main purpose of this pre-season service is to fumigate or spray these facilities to reduce the presence of the tobacco beetle before the stock of tobacco is received and stored for the new tobacco season. As soon as the tobacco arrives in Tete it is transported to the Green Tobacco premises for processing.
This is a processing unit housed in Tete and the facility is examined on a weekly basis by the MLT personnel. What transpires during that weekly examination or inspection is the reading of all the beetle traps and the plotting of an inspection map for the whole site. The Fumigation International Mozambique staff work hand in hand with the MLT team by conducting regular spraying and fogging activities and are also involved in setting up a spraying and fogging program for all involved, to adhere to, for the rest of the tobacco season. Before the new tobacco season starts and large stock volumes of tobacco are received at the storage facility for storage during the tobacco season, the whole processing complex is meticulously and comprehensively sprayed to protect the unit against the Lasioderma Serricorne tobacco beetle.
All unsold tobacco housed in the storage areas is then fumigated and covered up for the whole of the tobacco off season. The method used to monitor the state and health of the tobacco stocks that are covered up for the duration of the off season, is that of placing tobacco beetle traps under the fumigation sheets that cover the off season stock and also the in season stock. If re-infestation of the tobacco stock with the tobacco beetle is detected at any stage during its storage lifetime the respective stock will be fumigated and or sprayed again before it is either stored or dispatched to the client. During the season the fumigated and pest free clean tobacco is sent to Beira where it is either packed immediately into containers located at the Beira storage complex or it is stacked in various warehouses on the premises where it is then fumigated or sprayed again before it is shipped to the client at their respective destinations.
