Industrial Gutters And Guttering Systems Installed By Easy Flow Gutters Introduction

Written by: Save to Instapaper

Easy Flow Gutters installs industrial gutters, including guttering for offices, stretching from Johannesburg to Cape Town in South Africa. There are a variety of different guttering systems that Easy Flow employs and there are so many different ways that guttering can and is installed. A five step method of installing industrial gutters will now be explained. This method of installing industrial gutters is a specially designed roof edge drainage guttering system that was especially designed for industrial, commercial and domestic or residential complexes and buildings. This effective system is made up of an internal gutter, which is commonly known in the guttering trade as a liner, as well as a decorative cover referred to as the designer fascia”. Brackets are used to fix the industrial gutters or guttering system to the respective building with a variety of brackets including fixtures such as mitered corners.

This type of system needs to be installed by guttering specialists such as those employed by Easy Flow Gutters and should not be installed by handymen or do it yourself practitioners. As an example a suitably qualified and experienced metal mechanic is needed to install these gutters using a portable band saw instead of an inexperienced individual using aviation snips to cut the decorative fascia sections to size. The installation of this guttering system starts with the liner sections which constitute the actual gutter. The initial task undertaken here is to apply the liner from a left to right direction. For readers of this content who do not understand the direction term or terms used and referred to in the guttering industry, left to right is read as you stand on the roof and face ground level. The decorative fascias are installed once the liner installation has been completed, which may be fitted in any of the two directions.

The expansion joints of the liners need to be placed or fitted at 40’ intervals (i.e. every fourth piece). The decorative fascias are linked with concealed splice backup plates and do not need to have expansion joints. When it comes to the best gutter seal to use during this installation it is recommended that a high grade clear silicone or gutter seal to be purchased and used. It is also suggested that the installer use aluminium rivets that have with aluminium mandrels one eighth by one quarter of an inch to connect the liners. On average the norm is that only ten rivets are needed where eight rivets are used for each joint and the other two rivets for the decorative fascia splice plate. One eighth by three eighth rivets should be used when connecting the inside straps and four rivets are needed for each liner section. Guttering installers should also use the number ten by one inch stainless screws to fasten the liner’s back edge to wood plates. When doing this only ten fasteners are needed.
