Darling, Western Cape, South Africa – The picturesque town of Darling is set to host the first-ever Whisky Weekend from 21 to 23 November 2025. This event will include select masterclasses and whisky tastings from some of the world's most renowned distilleries. The inaugural Darling event – inspired by the successful McGregor Whisky Weekend, founded by Hector McBeth – aims to unite whisky aficionados, distillers, and newcomers to celebrate craftsmanship and culture on South Africa’s Cape West Coast.
This new Darling Whisky Weekend, also taking place in Yzerfontein, is a chance to sip world-class whisky while giving back to a meaningful cause—with all proceeds raised over the weekend going to The Darling Trust. This local non-profit and charitable organisation empowers the previously disadvantaged communities of Darling, through education, skills development, and health initiatives.
McBeth, owner of WhiskyShop.co.za and Retail stores in Woodstock and Fourways, states: “The Darling Whisky Weekend offers a unique flavour journey up South Africa's West Coast, where event guests can savour exceptional whiskies, engage with passionate distillers, purchase favourites for home enjoyment, and support the vibrant Darling community. Sample exquisite whiskies from around the globe, including Scotland's Aberlour and Ardbeg, Ireland's Dunvilles and Foxes Bow, Japan's Nikka and Suntory, India’s Indri and Paul John, and South Africa’s very own TOOR and Darling Brew Reminisce.”
Everyone involved, including the host venues, is committed to making this an unforgettable celebration of whisky. Beloved broadcaster and comedian Guy McDonald will serve as Master of Ceremonies, guiding guests through a memorable weekend filled with bold flavour, laughter, and West Coast hospitality. In addition, the West Coast Way—official promoters of the Cape West Coast—proudly endorse the event to highlight the natural beauty and quirky culture of the Cape West Coast with travel information and road trip plans.
