
There’s a story in every dash, and that is certainly the case for the Modern Mule.
The story begins 71 years ago in the great city of New York. Two men were sitting in Chatham Hotel, both despairing over their respective failing products: ginger beer and vodka. Soon, they began bonding over their similar inability to get customer interest, and, in an act of desperation, mixed together their products with a few dashes of bitters in the hopes of making something inspired. And that’s how the iconic Moscow Mule was born.
Fast forward to today, the Modern Mule is a contemporary interpretation of the beloved Moscow Mule, adapted to ‘move with the times’. So, if you are a Moscow Mule lover, try your hand at making this mix at home to celebrate the festive season.
Modern Mule
Ingredients:
- 30ml fresh lime juice
- 30ml simple syrup
- 45ml vodka
- 4-6 dashes ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters
- Ice
- Ginger beer
- Lime wheel & candied ginger
Method:
Mix the lime juice, simple syrup and vodka into a shaker, then add ice. Shake and strain into a glass filled with ice. Add the bitters and top up with ginger beer, then stir. Add a lime wheel and candied ginger to garnish. Enjoy!
