Entries are now open for the FNB Sauvignon Blanc SA Top 10, which celebrates its 20th edition in 2026.
Presented by Sauvignon Blanc South Africa in partnership with title partner FNB and platinum partner Ever Solutions, the competition is South Africa's only wine competition dedicated exclusively to Sauvignon Blanc.
Since its inception, it has recognised the country's best Sauvignon Blanc wines while showcasing the quality and diversity of the category.
Celebrating Two Decades Of Excellence
Sauvignon Blanc South Africa Chairperson and Steenberg Vineyards Cellarmaster Elunda Basson says the milestone reflects the evolution of South African Sauvignon Blanc.
"For two decades, the FNB Sauvignon Blanc SA Top 10 has recognised outstanding wines and encouraged producers to keep raising the bar. Looking back, it is remarkable to see how South African Sauvignon Blanc has evolved in quality, style and regional expression. The competition, together with projects such as our book and aroma wheel, continues to tell that story."
Building On A Landmark Year
The anniversary follows a notable year for the association, which in 2025 launched The Story of South African Sauvignon Blanc coffee table book and South Africa's first Sauvignon Blanc Aroma Wheel, documenting the history and evolution of the cultivar in South Africa.
Judging Process
Entries will be assessed from Tuesday 25 to Thursday 27 August at Bontevlei in Stellenbosch by a panel of respected winemakers and Sauvignon Blanc specialists under the convenorship of Dr Carien Coetzee.
Joining her are Dr Winifred Bowman CWM, Morgan Steyn of De Grendel Wines, RJ Botha of Kleine Zalze Wines and Johann Fourie of Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate, as well as two protégé judges.
Awards Announcement
The 20 finalists will be announced in September, with the Top 10 winners revealed on Wednesday 14 October at the annual FNB Sauvignon Blanc SA Top 10 awards event.
