HONOR and RGB Gaming Launch eGaming Initiative to Empower Township Youth in South Africa

Johannesburg, South Africa – 1 April 2026

Strategic Partnership Announcement

HONOR and RGB Gaming today announced a strategic partnership to introduce structured eSports programmes, digital skills development, and technology access to township schools across South Africa. The initiative was officially launched at the Rand Show 2026.

Empowering Youth Through Technology and Gaming

The collaboration aims to unlock opportunities for young people in underserved communities by combining competitive gaming with education in coding, robotics, and digital literacy, transforming gaming from entertainment into a pathway for future careers.

Building on Global Innovation Leadership

This partnership builds on HONOR’s global positioning as the Official Smartphone Partner of the eSports World Cup 2025, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and youth empowerment through technology.

Device Support and Access

As part of the initiative, HONOR will donate smart devices that will be deployed in participating schools to support learning, training, and competitive gaming programmes.

“At HONOR, we believe technology should be a bridge to opportunity,” said Zhou Lefeng, CEO of HONOR South Africa. “Our partnership with RGB Gaming is about unlocking the potential of young people by giving them access to the tools, skills, and platforms they need to thrive in a digital future.”

Programme Implementation and Skills Development

The programme will introduce inter-school eSports leagues, mentorship, and structured training designed to develop critical skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and digital fluency.

The launch took place at the Rand Show’s Tech & Gaming Arena at the Johannesburg Expo Centre.

“At RGB Gaming, our mission has always been to use esports as a platform for education, skills development, and real opportunity,” said Jaco Sauer GM and Co-Founder of RGB Gaming. “Partnering with HONOR allows us to scale this impact also into lower income schools, giving learners access not just to competitive gaming, but to digital skills that prepare them for future careers in technology and the creative economy.”
