Capegate Champions Sustainability with Unique Black Friday Initiative
Written by: CAPEGATE SHOPPING CENTRE Save to Instapaper
Cape Town, South Africa – On Friday, 29 November 2024, Capegate transformed Black Friday into a green celebration by giving away free reusable shopping bags crafted from repurposed promotional banners. The initiative, which rewarded the first 500 shoppers, showcased Capegate's commitment to reducing single-use plastics and fostering sustainability.
A Statement for the Environment
This eco-friendly endeavour reflects Capegate’s dedication to environmental consciousness. By creatively upcycling event banners into durable shopping bags, the centre not only reduced waste but also provided shoppers with a practical, eco-conscious alternative.
Zoë Enslin, Marketing Manager at Capegate, explained:"Our goal was to find a meaningful way to celebrate Black Friday while staying true to our environmental values. These bags are more than just a giveaway — they’re a statement about the power of small actions to create significant change. We hope this initiative inspires others to think creatively about reusing materials in their everyday lives."
Leading by Example
Timed perfectly for the year’s busiest shopping day, the initiative encouraged shoppers to adopt sustainable habits. The upcycled bags served as a symbol of innovation and eco-consciousness, reinforcing Capegate’s leadership in the fight against single-use plastics.
Community at the Core
Situated in Cape Town’s southern suburbs, Capegate is more than just a retail destination. By embracing a community-centred approach, Capegate actively engages with residents, businesses, and organisations to create meaningful connections.
From supporting local artisans to hosting community-driven events, Capegate continues to demonstrate its dedication to improving the lives of those it serves. Its innovative Black Friday initiative is one of many examples of how the centre addresses global challenges like sustainability while fostering local engagement.
A Vision for the Future
Capegate’s commitment to social responsibility is evident in its ongoing investments in eco-conscious projects and partnerships. By prioritising people and the planet, the centre ensures that its impact goes beyond shopping aisles, inspiring a greener and more inclusive future.
