Segonyana Mall to Transform Retail Landscape in Kuruman
Submitted by: Bernice BarnardKuruman, 02 December: Kuruman is poised to experience a retail revolution with the upcoming Segonyana Mall, set to open in November 2025. This eagerly awaited project by the Moolman Group, a leading property developer, promises a secure and vibrant shopping experience in the heart of the Northern Cape town.
Construction Officially Underway
The mall's construction officially began on 2 December with a groundbreaking sod-turning ceremony, marking the culmination of years of meticulous planning. The ceremony saw attendance from the Executive Mayor, the Municipal Manager, and local authority delegates, all of whom have been pivotal in supporting this transformative development.
Retail Highlights
Segonyana Mall will offer an exciting array of retailers to meet the growing needs of Kuruman’s residents:
- Anchor Tenants: Shoprite and Boxer
- Fashion Brands: Mr Price, Pep, Markhams, Choice Clothing
- Essential Services: Capitec Bank, Arrie Nel Pharmacy
- Lifestyle Stores: Sheet Street, Home Choice, Total Sports, Sportscene
- Food and Beverages: Roots Butchery, Boxer Liquor
With 34 stores in total, the mall will provide a comprehensive shopping destination, combining convenience and variety.
Strategic Location
Conveniently located at the corner of Tsening Road and Bree Street, directly opposite the taxi rank, the mall spans a 3.1-hectare site. Featuring approximately 11,000 square metres of gross lettable area, the single-level parking facility ensures easy access. High-level security measures will guarantee a safe shopping environment for all visitors.
Economic Impact
The mall is not only a retail hub but a significant economic catalyst. It will create jobs during and post-construction, boosting local economic growth. Pieter Beyers from the Moolman Group emphasised, “This development is not just about bricks and mortar. It’s about creating a space that serves the people of Kuruman.”
Designed to support the town's growth, Segonyana Mall will strengthen Kuruman's status as a key economic and social hub in the Northern Cape.
