67 Minutes to moola keeps quadriplegics and paraplegics moving

This Mandela Day, the QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA) urges you to turn your 67 minutes into rands and help a quadriplegic or paraplegic stay mobile. Every R67 donated will go towards the QASA Wheelchair Fund to assist members with repairs to their wheelchairs.

“Our chairs are our lifeline. They allow us to be independent, to participate in society and to live our lives to our full potential. Without it, we are stuck at home, in bed,” the organisation says.

Keeping members mobile is core to the QASA mission of improving the lives of quadriplegics and paraplegics. While the organisation already assist those who need to replace their chairs, it recognises that more can be done for members who only need to make minor repairs.

Often, a small repair can greatly improve the performance of a wheelchair or even extend its lifespan. With many members already living on a tight budget, assisting with the cost of repairs or replacement parts allows members to rest assured that their independence won’t break down.

“When we can’t donate our time, our money is the next best thing. Your donation can restore someone’s freedom and independence,” QASA urges. “This is about dignity, access and equality. This Mandela Day, let’s turn compassion into action – R67 at a time.”

Donations can be made via EFT or electronic payment on the QASA website at www.qasa.co.za. If you would like to make a bigger donation and earn a Section 18A tax exception certificate, contact QASA at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
