Winemakers and industry enthusiasts can look forward to an in-depth exploration of the latest global trends, innovations, and techniques in Sauvignon Blanc at the annual Sauvignon Blanc South Africa Seminar. This "must-attend" event, presented with platinum partner EVER Solutions and Top 10 title partner FNB, will take place on Thursday, 21 November 2024, at Hazendal Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.

Expert-Led Sessions and Topics

Renowned experts from South Africa and Italy will share key insights on a range of relevant topics:

  • RJ Botha, Chairperson of Sauvignon Blanc SA, will present updates on the association’s recent activities, following the Annual General Meeting.
  • Dr. Jeanne Brand from Stellenbosch University will introduce the first-ever aroma wheel specifically designed to capture the unique profile of South African Sauvignon Blanc.
  • A panel discussion titled “Sauvignon Sisters: The Story of Sauvignon Blanc and the Birth of Sauvignon Gris”, led by Jono Le Feuvre of Han Drinks Solo, will feature winemakers Riandri Visser, Jean Nel, and Henry Kotzé. The session includes a tasting of Sauvignon Gris wines.
  • Paolo Capra, Commercial Director at EVER srl in Italy, will discuss “Wine Learning,” exploring a modern approach to yeast selection and fermentation techniques.
  • Igna Schneider, CEO of Tip Africa Publishing, will offer an exclusive preview of the new Sauvignon Blanc coffee table book.
  • Dr. Carien Coetzee of Basic Wine will give an overview of the 2024 FNB Sauvignon Blanc SA Top 10.
  • Luca Zucarello of Impronta Enologica will delve into Italian terroirs and winemaking practices, complemented by a tasting of six Italian Sauvignon Blanc wines.
  • An informal tasting of the 2024 FNB Sauvignon Blanc SA Top 10 will take place during lunch.

Registration Details

Pre-registration is required by Friday, 15 November 2024, at https://sauvignonblanc.com/seminar. The registration fee is R1000 for members and R1200 for non-members, which includes tea, coffee, lunch, and wine tastings. Doors open at 07:40, with the programme starting at 08:15 and concluding at 14:00 at Hazendal Wine Estate, Bottelary Road, Stellenbosch.
