DUKE's Suhana Gordhan Appointed to One-Club for Creativity Board of Directors
Submitted by: Dominique KrauseCape Town, 24 March 2022: The DUKE Group is proud to announce that Executive Creative Director, Suhana Gordhan has been appointed to the International Board of Directors for The One Club for Creativity, the world’s foremost nonprofit organisation whose mission is to support the global creative community. Gordhan forms part a diverse group of 22 creative leaders from around the world who will begin their three-year term on the exclusive Board and is the sole member from the African continent.
The One Club for Creativity Board members are selected based on three criteria: they must be prominent international creatives, be respected leaders in their given fields, and exert influence in their respective regions.
Board members are responsible for providing input and feedback on the club’s ongoing global programming, elevating The One Show and ADC Annual Awards in rankings in their regions, connecting the club with advertising and design universities and schools, and recommending outstanding candidates to serve as awards judges.
Unlike for-profit companies that produce awards shows, The One Club is a non-profit organisation that takes revenue generated from entries to its global awards shows – The One Show, ADC Annual Awards, Young Ones Student Awards, Young Guns, Type Directors Club Communication Design and Typeface Design awards – and puts it back into the industry to fund programs under its four pillars: Education, Inclusion & Diversity, Gender Equality and Creative Development.
Gordhan is delighted with her prestigious new appointment and aims to focus her efforts on reinstating the One Club Creative Boot Camp designed to develop and nurture young creative talent.
Commenting on her appointment, Gordhan says, “The One Club for Creativity is an organisation I have great admiration for, specifically regarding their initiatives that continue to transform the industry at all levels. I wish there was a less clichéd word to express this – but I do feel so honoured to be able to serve on this Board and to represent my country amongst this esteemed group of creative minds. With much respect and awe, I have watched Xolisa Dyeshana, CCO of Joe Public, carry this role before me. He has made the South African industry extremely proud, and I hope to do the same. I feel so grateful to be given this opportunity and to be supported by the lovely humans at DUKE Advertising.”
DUKE Group C.E.O. Wayne Naidoo adds, “There is no-one more qualified nor more deserving than Suhana to fulfill this role. She is a true creative leader and inspiration to so many – I know she is going to be a huge asset to the One Club for Creativity.”
