African Directory Services Launches ADSlive Internship Programme
Written by: Save to InstapaperAfrican Directory Services (ADS) has officially launched the ADSlive Internship Programme this March 2013. The internship will run as a three month programme with the purpose of training, developing and introducing students into the working world.
ADS Director Ruben Ackerman said in an interview, “Education and skill development is a core focus when it comes to the company CSI initiatives. For this reason we have decided to launch the ADS live Internship Programme.”
In 2012, an Adcorp labour market analyst Loane Sharp identified that there were nearly 600,000 unemployed university graduates in South Africa. These graduates were found to be mostly in the arts, humanities and social sciences. According to the Adcorp Employment Index statistics for January 2013, employment has fallen at a rate of 3.2%. Adcorp statistics also show that during January the economy has lost about 51,495 jobs.
African Directory Services has taken the initiative to launch the ADSlive Internship Programme in an effort to develop students and prepare them for their future careers. ADS Director Shane Hiralall said, “We are extremely excited to launch the ADSlive Internship Program and we are really happy that we have the opportunity to train students, who are in fact our future”
This is a start for the company as ADS plans to dream bigger and aim higher not only for the benefit of themselves but for others as well.
ADS challenges other companies out there to do the same.
