OMODA C9 Surpasses 1000 Sales As PHEV Model Expands Premium SUV Line Up
OMODA’s flagship C9 SUV has surpassed 1,000 retail sales in South Africa since its launch in November 2024, marking a significant milestone for the premium model and reinforcing the brand’s growing presence in the local market.
With 1,030 units sold in just 15 months, the C9’s performance highlights strong consumer demand in the competitive premium SUV segment. The achievement also contributes to the broader success of OMODA & JAECOO South Africa, which has recorded over 20,000 total vehicle sales since entering the market in 2023.
Strong Market Response To Premium Offering
Positioned as OMODA’s flagship, the C9 combines distinctive design, advanced technology, and high levels of comfort. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbopetrol engine delivering 192 kW and 400 N.m of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.
“The response to the C9 has been extremely encouraging,” said Hans Greyling, General Manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa. “Surpassing 1,000 sales is a meaningful milestone for a flagship SUV in the premium space and reflects the growing confidence high-end customers have in the OMODA brand.”
PHEV Introduction Broadens Appeal
The introduction of the C9 PHEV in 2025 has further expanded the model’s offering, bringing plug-in hybrid performance and extended range capability to the lineup. The PHEV variant delivers a combined output of 440 kW and 915 N.m of torque, alongside an electric-only driving range of up to 150 km and a total range of approximately 1,100 km.
This addition strengthens the C9’s positioning by combining electrified efficiency with the luxury and performance expected in the segment.
Technology And Comfort Drive Continued Growth
Inside, the C9 features dual 12.3-inch digital displays, premium audio, wireless smartphone charging, and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. High levels of standard specification and refined interior finishes have further enhanced its appeal among buyers seeking a well-equipped premium SUV.
With continued sales momentum and the addition of the PHEV model, the C9 remains a key contributor to OMODA’s expanding footprint in South Africa’s premium automotive market.
