Media Snippet, Bay Habour Market, 26 August 2021
Bay Harbour Market lies in the heart of Hout Bay- a market filled with cultural diversity, colour, vibe and the essence of South Africa at its very core. And whilst August will forever be known as the month of women, Bay Harbour Market has always recognised the importance of women in business and the real impact they bring to the community.
To this end, the space within the old fish factory is constantly changing – traders come and go and the experience at the market is never dull, it’s constantly on the move, fast and fabulous. Below, we pay tribute to three of our entrepreneurs who keep the energy alive.
Sharon Youngman – started Afri-Chic 9 years ago from a table at the market. She now boasts a wide range of proudly local accessories that are recognised all over the world. Gorgeous pieces such as leather bracelets, pendants and watches. Afri-Chic has now become one of the markets premier go-to little destinations!
Our second woman in business is Jill Padoa, the creator of J.Beenz Kids Clothing. Jill has created a children’s range of clothing that supports only local entrepreneurs in sourcing the fabrics that are used. J.Beenz is a must-have at every baby shower!
Thirdly, say hi to Cashline Abrahams, the founder of Cassies Kitchen, serving authentic South African styled home curries. Cassies Kitchen is not only limited to curries but offers exotic stuffed phyllo cups and tantalising beetroot and pear salads.
